What NA-Semax Amidate is

NA-Semax Amidate is Semax (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) carrying an acetyl group on the N-terminal methionine and an amide in place of the C-terminal carboxylic acid. Both changes are standard protective modifications in peptide chemistry, intended to reduce cleavage by amino- and carboxypeptidases. Unlike Semax, which has a published record spanning three decades, this derivative appears mainly in supplier catalogues; the only related peer-reviewed work found examines the stability of N-acetylated Semax to proteolysis, and no study of the doubly modified molecule was identified. It is supplied here as a lyophilised powder for laboratory research.

What the research examines

Proteolytic stability. Studies from the Institute of Molecular Genetics examined how Semax is cleaved by aminopeptidases in rat brain and blood preparations, identifying His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro as the main degradation product, and compared analogues with different N-terminal residues. A 2013 report examined the stability of N-acetylated Semax to proteolysis in several biological media.

Parent-peptide neurotrophin studies. Work on unmodified Semax measured BDNF and trkB expression in the rat hippocampus and basal forebrain, and dopamine and serotonin turnover in rodent striatum and hypothalamus. Whether the acetylated, amidated derivative shares these actions has not been examined in any published study identified.

Parent-peptide ischaemia models. Rat models of cerebral ischaemia–reperfusion have been used to characterise gene- and protein-expression changes after Semax, including neurotrophin, immune-response and vascular genes. No comparable study using NA-Semax Amidate was identified.

No peer-reviewed study of NA-Semax Amidate itself was identified; the evidence base consists of preclinical work on the parent peptide Semax and a small number of Russian proteolysis studies on N-acetylated Semax. The derivative has no regulatory status in any jurisdiction. NA-Semax Amidate is not an approved medicine, and this page makes no claims about effects in humans.

Handling in the laboratory

Store sealed at 2–8 °C for routine use or frozen for long-term storage, protected from light and moisture. Let the vial reach room temperature before opening. See Storage and handling of lyophilized research peptides.

New to research peptides?

What is a research peptide?

A short chain of amino acids produced synthetically for laboratory investigation. Research peptides are sold as chemical reagents to study biological mechanisms; they are not medicines, foods or supplements and are not for human use.

What does "lyophilized" mean?

Freeze-dried. The peptide is supplied as a dry powder, which keeps it stable in storage. It is dissolved in the laboratory before use in an experiment.

How do I verify a batch?

Scan the QR on the vial, or open "Verify a batch" and enter the batch number. The report opens on the independent laboratory's own website, we cannot edit it.

What does the purity figure mean?

The share of the vial's peptide content that is the intended sequence, measured by HPLC. Identity is confirmed separately by mass spectrometry, so both "what" and "how pure" are tested.

How should it be stored?

Sealed vials at 2–8 °C, protected from light. Our storage guide covers handling of opened vials.
